How to Immigrate to Canada?
Canada is a highly sought after destination of immigration due to its numerous positive aspects and quality of life, and also because Canada has eighty pathways for immigrants. This blog will provide you with an overview of the main routes, but there are other layers we can discuss with you when you apply.
Express Entry: If you are a college graduate with a degree and professional work experience who speaks moderate English and/or French, you are an ideal candidate for this pathway. This pathway is for those who wish to acquire permanent residency in Canada. You may also submit under Express Entry is you can qualify for:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Family Sponsorship: Helping families reunify is very important to the Canadian Government, which is why they offer Family Sponsorship as a pathway for relatives to come to Canada for permanent residence. To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident. Those family members who you are eligible to sponsor are:
- Your spouse
- Children under the age of 22
You may not sponsor parents or grandparents at this time, but we would be happy to discuss other pathways for them.
Refugees & Humanitarian: If you have fled your country of origin due to discrimination and have a well-founded fear of persecution due to race, religion, creed, sexual orientation, or nationality, you may qualify for this pathway. Once you have presented yourself at a Canadian port of entry, you will be screened, and an agent of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) or Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will determine if you are eligible to claim asylum.
Once you receive refugee status, there are private and corporate immigration sponsorships available. SIV Consulting will be happy to discuss these options with you.
Business Immigration: If you’ve experienced personal and financial success, and desire to establish a business in Canada, this is the pathway for you.
For example: Quebec is looking for immigrants to take advantage of their many opportunities in their Self-Employed, Investor, and Entrepreneur Immigration Programs. Canada has many programs available if you are a successful investor, a business manager, or an entrepreneur. By inviting you to this program, Canada is expanding the opportunity to create jobs for others.
The opportunities we’ve listed here are only the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface, there are dozens of sub-categories as well as other pathways to which you may be able to take advantage. By setting an appointment with one of our SIV consultants, we can work together to find the right path for your journey to a new and exciting life in Canada.
Canada welcomes you!
